Obituary of Cletus 'Dick' Smith

-PORTAGE LAKES Cletus Richard Smith, 82, went home to be with the Lord on January 28. Born in Akron on July 5, 1928 to the late Chester& Mildred Smith, Dick had been a lifetime area resident. He was a sheet metal fabricator, working for Goodyear Aerospace, Firestone Tire& Rubber, and Diamond Crystal. He was a member of St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church. In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his children Michael and Anne Marie; granddaughter Tina Smith; brother Raymond and sisters Donna and Kathy. He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Betty of Portage Lakes; children Steven (Rhonda) of Akron, Kathleen (Edward) Edmisten of Brandon, FL, William (Rose) of Portage Lakes, Janet (Terry) Young of Barberton, Timothy of Portage Lakes, James (Susan) of Uniontown, Theresa (Robert) Davis of Portage Lakes, Christine (Keith) Race of Wadsworth, Jeremia (Katrina Thomson) of Portage Lakes, and Thaddeus, also of Portage Lakes; sister Patricia Blake of Cuyahoga Falls, as well as 27 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends. The family will receive friends on Monday from 2-4& 6-8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. David Bline on Tuesday at 10:00 am at St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church on Manchester Rd. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
