Obituary of Louis Strebic
Louis Strebic, 96, passed away on January 2, at Barberton Citizens Hospital.
Born in New York City on June 13, 1914 to the late Peter and Katy Strbich, Lou had been a longtime Barberton resident. Along with his friend Steve Ziblot, Louis was the co-owner of the South End Tavern in Barberton. He served his country as a member of the US Army during WWII. Lou was a former member of the Barberton VFW and the Eagles and was the past-president of the Barberton Tavern Owner's Association. He was a member of the Disbaled American Veterans and the Firestone Park VFW Post 3383. Lou also helped build the original St. Demetrius Serbian Orthodox Church on Long St. in Akron.
In addition to his parents, Lou was preceded in death by his wife Josephine in 2007; brothers George, Sam, and Steve and sisters Mildred Borocki and Helen Dufala. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Cathy and Ronald Duhon of Barberton.
The family will receive friends TODAY from 4-7 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday at 10:00 am at the funeral home.
