Obituary of Albert E. Brunner
-CUYAHOGA FALLS
Albert E. Brunner, 88, went home to be with the Lord on December 4, after a sudden illness.
Born in Akron on October 6, 1922 to the late John & Lena Brunner, Al had been an area resident for most of his life. He was a graduate of St. Mary High School and went on to graduate Cum Laude from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration and later went on to earn his MBA. He retired from the General Tire & Rubber Co. in 1987, where he worked as a purchasing agent. Al proudly served his country as a member of the US Army during WWII and was awarded a Purple Heart. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus #13517, and participated as a survivorin the ACS Relay for Life. Al enjoyed golf, the Cavs, and college sports, especially Notre Dame.
In addition to his parents, Albert was preceded in death by his first wife Mary; brothers Erv, Bill, Art, and Dick and sister Dolores. He is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Anne of Cuyahoga Falls; children Suzanne (Gary) Elliott of Marietta, GA, John Brunner of Jacksonville, FL, James Brunner of Cuyahoga Falls, Patricia (Dan) Moyer of Colorado Springs, CO, and David (Diana) Brunner of Duluth, GA; brother Robert (Millie) Brunner and sister Rosemary Scichilone; sisters-in-law Rita, Sandy, and Patricia Brunner and brother-in-law Chuck Brunn; 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, as well as many dear nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4-7 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home MCGOWAN-REID & SANTOS CHAPEL (at 3rd St., one block north of Portage Trail in the Falls.) A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Thomas McCann on Thursday, 10:00 am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1905 Portage Trail in Cuyahoga Falls (PROCESSION WILL FORM AT CHURCH). Interment will follow at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Father McIntyre Fund, c/o Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish 1905 Portage Trail Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223 or to the Hospice of Summa 444 N.
