Obituary of Joyce Ann Herroon
Joyce Ann Herroon, 77, passed away November 14, 2010. She was born in Painesville, OH on May 1, 1933. She is preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Kathryn Boone. She is survived by her beloved husband David of 58 and a half years, her son Douglas Herroon and daughters Debra (Randall) Herroon-Cerwin, of Columbus, OH; and Julie (Jack) Leyland of Raleigh, NC. She will be deeply missed by her seven grandchildren: Gladys, Joe, Parker, Corinne, Kelsey, Jason and Dean and great grandchild Logan in addition to her cherished niece Connie Ruehl.
She worked for Kirkwood/Oakwood Psychological for 30 years as an office manager. Joyce and David began their life together by eloping in a Greyhound bus to Monroe, MI accompanied by her grandmother Daisy Boone as a family witness. In her full life, she had many joys. In addition to the love she felt for her children and grandchildren she enjoyed planting her tomatoes every Spring alongside her beautiful flower garden; making sure the birds were fed everyday and the hummingbirds every Summer, and singing in the choir at St. John's Episcopal Church. Joyce loved antiquing and her collection of Sebastian figurines which she added to over the years; her convertible, shopping and Kay Jewelers!
Joyce turned her Silver Lake house of 45 years into a home for her family with special memories and holiday traditions which will be missed. She enjoyed decorating and the cathedral ceilings, which were built by her beloved husband at her request. She took comfort in sitting by the fireplace and reading.
Joyce looked forward to her planned visits with her close-knit high school classmates of Fairport Harbor High School in Perry, OH and monthly lunches with her dear girlfriends.
She cherished going to Puerto Vallarta in late winter, a tradition her and David shared for 13 years and sailing on Silver Lake and boating on Portage Lakes for 23 years; 20 years at Dusty's Landing. The last 9 years were spent boating on her pontoon boat "Joyride".
