Obituary of Ted Semchuck
Ted Semchuck, 88, passed away in Largo, FL on September 17th to be with his heavenly Father after succumbing to complications of a broken hip and heart attack. Born in West Virginia on May 24, 1922 he spent most of his life in his beloved hometown of Akron. Ted was married to the love of his life Carolyn Muccino, who preceded him in 2009 after 61 years of marriage.
Ted was a 1941 graduate of Garfield H.S. where he was a star basketball player and popular presence in Firestone Park. He later served with the Army Air Corp during WWII making 15 missions serving as a side-gunner on a B-24. Upon his return, Ted spent 13 years at Firestone Tire and Rubber Company as a mechanic. He then made a major career change and spent the rest of his working life as a manufacturer's representative. He won numerous awards during his career as a dedicated professional salesman.
He retired in 1988 and wintered in Florida for over 20 years enjoying golf, family and friends in Stuart and later moved to the St. Petersburg area to be closer to his children.
He was also preceded in death by mother and father, Roman and Lucy Semchuck, brother Benny and sister Natalie. He is survived by daughter, Carol Jenrette; son, Ben Semchuck; son-in law, Dale Jenrette and daughter-in-law, Sherry Semchuck. Six Grandchildren; Jesse Semchuck, Taryn Jenrette, Sarah Semchuck Groover, Kyle Jenrette, Samuel and Grace Semchuck. One Great-Granddaughter, Ava Grace Semchuck.
Ted will long be remembered for his countless friends and acquaintances, wonderful stories and mostly for the love of his family.
A Divine Liturgy will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am, October 16th at Holy Ghost Catholic Church with Interment of his remains to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
