Obituary of Antonia Olijnyk
Antonia Olijnyk, 87, affectionately known as "Toni" to all who knew her, passed away Monday, September 20, 2010 at Akron City Hospital.
She was the beloved wife of the late Walter Olijnyk. She was born in Czechoslovakia in 1923 and immigrated to the United States from Germany with Walter in 1950. They moved from New Jersey to Akron, Ohio in 1987 to join many of their friends who had moved here previously. She was a homemaker who had always loved her gardening and was a member of Holy Ghost Ukrainian Byzantine Rite Catholic Church.
She leaves behind many wonderful friends and family including relatives in the Czech Republic. Mary and Charlie Best and their Family, Mary Boburczak, Paula Locknish and her Family, Tony and Martha Lewenec and their Family; devoted caregiver, Ruth Pinney; and she will be missed by her beloved cat, Mooshie.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, 9:15 a.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron followed by Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. at Holy Ghost Ukrainian Byzantine Rite Catholic Church. Fr. Ignatius Kury officiating. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home where a Panachida service will be held at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Ghost Ukrainian Byzantine Rite Catholic Church, 1866 Brown St. Akron, Ohio 44301.
