Obituary of Opal June Pozonitz

Opal June Pozonitz, 70 went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by her family, on September 15, at her home in Copley, after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer.
Born in Weston, W.V. on June 9, 1940 to the late Roy and Hazel Cosner, Opal had been an area resident since 1957. She met her husband of 48 years, Rudie, while working at the Waterloo Drive-In in 1961. She retired from Carl's Heating and Cooling, where she worked as a secretary. Opal was a member of the former St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Akron, where she was a Eucharistic Minister and worked bingo, and was a current member of Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Copley.
In addition to her husband Rudie, Opal is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Robin and Dennis Keeling and Rosemary and Joseph Aleshire; grandchildren Shana and Tristan Keeling and Rachael Aleshire; sister Carol Sprouse and special 'Thursday Sister' Rosie Pozonitz.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 5-8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Ralph Colletta on Saturday at 11:00 am at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Copley. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
