Obituary of Audrey Fannin
"She opened her eyes, saw a glimpse of Heaven and it took her breath away". Audrey Fannin, 87, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2010.
She was born in Adams County, Ohio and was a member of the Akron Baptist Temple. She retired from the University of Akron and was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II. Special thank you to the 3rd floor unit Staff at Summa Palliative Care for their gentle care in her last few days.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernie and Ethel (Coldiron) Spires; most recently, her husband, Beecher on July 20, 2010; and three sisters. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Philip and Sandra; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Robert Hiley and Sue Ellen Morris and Richard Austin; brothers, Ernie and Ronald Keith (Linda) Spires; sister, Jean (Jim) Griffith; grandchildren, Philip (Angela) Fannin, Jr., Erin Fannin, Amanda (Michael) Duda, Jennifer (Aidan) Kilker, Molly Anne Hiley (James Halicki), Scott (Charlotte) and Benjamin (Robin) Morris; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Friday, 11 a.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. Rev. Mike Prebynski officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park where American Legion Post 449 will also conduct military burial honors. The family will receive friends Thursday, 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
