Obituary of Eugene J Sehm

Eugene J. Sehm, PhD, 81, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2010 the 57th anniversary of his marriage to his late wife Agnes. Gene was born September 8, 1928 to Joseph J. and Alice (Haupenthal) Sehm in Rochester, NY. He grew up in Rochester and graduated from St. Lawrence University and received a Doctorate in Chemistry from University of Rochester. He was an air traffic controller for the US Navy in the Philippines during WWII. He began his career as a chemist in 1957 with BF Goodrich. He moved into management for ten years and finished as a research fellow. He retired in 1989 after 32 years of services. Gene was a member of St. Frances de Sales where he and Agnes attended daily Mass for many years. He was very involved in the St. Vincent de Paul Society and Habitat for Humanity. Gene was preceded in death by his wife Agnes and son Greg; and is survived by his children Debra (Ken) Schaefer of Akron, Neal (Amy) Sehm of Springfield, Jean Marie Sehm, Mary Meachem and Jennifer Sehm all of Akron; grandchildren Matthew and Cory Lee and Joseph (Sara) and Allen Sehm; great grandchildren Tia, Hayden and Benjamin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday 1:00 Pm at St Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 4019 Manchester Rd Akron, OH 44319. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends TODAY from 3 to 7 Pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 Pm.
