Obituary of Dean E. Davis

Dean E. Davis, 80, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on August 14 in Akron. Born on March 5, 1930 in Garrett, PA to the late Frederick and Elizabeth Davis, Dean had been an area resident since 1969. Dean was a 22 year veteran of the US Armed Forces, serving in the Navy, Army, and Air Force, during the Korean Conflict and during peacetime. He attended St. Bernard Catholic Church in Akron. Dean loved cooking, fishing, his precious dogs, and most of all, his wife, children and grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Dean was preceded in death by his daughter Maria Sedaker-Davis, sisters Ruth Behra and Janet Burkholder, and brothers Fred and Bill Davis. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Hildegard; sons Dean (Mary) Jr. of Coventry Twp. and Ricky of Southgate, MI; daughters Lynne Davis of Clinton and Donna Keneaster of Palm Harbor, FL; brothers Ken (Helen) of Garrett, PA, Charles 'Duck' of Rockwood, PA, and Jim (Barb) Davis of Elizabeth City, NC; sisters Pauline Cotrell of Elizabeth City, NC and Betty (Jerry) Kearns of Akron; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5-8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 8:30 am at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Akron (PROCESSION TO FORM AT THE CHURCH). Interment with full military honors will follow at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
