Obituary of Martha Julia Jay
Martha Julia Jay (nee Ruman), 77, went home to be with the Lord on August 14, at the St. Luke Lutheran Home in Franklin Twp.
Born on March 22, 1933 in Akron, to the late Paul and Julia Ruman, Martha had been an Akron resident for her entire life. She was a proud member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Firestone Park. Martha was retired from Newman's Home Health Care, where she worked as a home health aide. Martha's three loves were her grandchildren, her children and the Cleveland Indians. She will always be remembered for her big heart and her loving ways and whenever you asked her how she was doing, she responded with an emphatic, 'Fantastic!'
In addition to her parents; Martha was preceded in death by her brother, Wayne Ruman and her sister, Christine Mitchell. She is survived by her son, Kenneth Paul (Debbie) Jay of Rootstown; daughters, Stephanie (Douglass) Trayer of Akron, Karen (David) Stewart of Uniontown, Patricia Clark of Kent, and Catherine (Mark) Bradley of Jackson Twp.; sister, Joan Pinczes of Akron; grandchildren, Rebecca and Kimberly Trayer, Ashley and Dakota Jay, Heather Clark, Courtney and Branden Bradley; as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Martha also leaves behind her special granddog, Chelsea.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the St. John Lutheran Church, where the family will again receive friends for one hour prior to the service
