Obituary of John Paul Saffles

John Paul Saffles, 81, passed away Thursday, August 19, 2010. He was born in Akron and retired from Firestone Tire & Rubber Company after 38 years of service. He was a member of Akron First Seventh Day Adventist Church and enjoyed working in his yard, on cars and riding motorcycles. He loved life and he loved his family. His family always came first. He was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Emily Medeiros; and is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nancy E. (Turner); sons, David (Mary) and Jeffrey (Angela); daughters, Wendi Schlegel, Rebecca (Fred) Martin, Patricia Fairchild, Tammara (Timothy) Howell and Tonya (Edward) Johnson; brother, Robert Glenn Saffles; 22 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, 11 a.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. (Please note new address) in Akron. Pastor Ted Bartter officiating.
