Obituary of Alexander Michael Ristich

Alexander M. Ristich, Sr., 90, passed away October 25, 2012. He was born February 26, 1922 in Akron, Ohio and worked at Firestone Tire and Rubber Company for 35 years as a maintenance welder. He was a World War II veteran serving in the Battle of the Bulge 3rd Army Division as a Tech Sergeant and was a member of St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church where he was also a past vice president of the church board. He was preceded in death by parents, Milan and Emma (Chudanov) Ristich; first wife, Zora Rose Gruich; second wife, Lona May Shoop; brothers, Max and Stephen; sister, Margaret; and step-daughter, Eleanor May Bowman. He is survived by step-son, Dan Z. (Charlotte) Kovacevich; sons, Alexander M., Jr. (Constance L.) and Stephen R. Ristich; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Eric) Yousey, Victoria (Michael) Rosato and Alexander M. Ristich, III.; great-grandchildren, Samantha and Michael Rosato; and many Kumovie. Funeral service will be held Thursday, 11 a.m. at St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church where Alexander will lie in state one hour prior to service. Rev. Fr. Milan Pajic officiating. Private interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, 5 to 8 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron where a Parastas service will be held at 8 p.m. Donations may be made to St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church, 2552 Pickle Rd.
