Obituary of James N. Vinson
James N. Vinson Jr., 84, passed away on August 15 at the Cleveland Clinic.
Born in Casky, KY on July 11, 1926 to the late James Sr. and Lottie Vinson, Jim had been an area resident for most of his life. He worked for the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. as a supervisor, retiring in 1987 with 43 years of service. Jim served his country as a member of the US Army, fighting in the Philippines during World War II. He was a member of the Goodyear Top Ten Club.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Patricia; sons James M. (Eleanor) of Memphis, TN and John of Akron; daughter Susan (Sam) Joseph of Akron; grandchildren Paul (Diana) Vinson of Scott AFB, IL and Michael and Brian Vinson of Memphis, TN; great-grandchildren Cassidy and Cooper Vinson; special niece Sandra Webb.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr.'s Robert Scarcella and Gayleen Kolaczewski for all of the wonderful care given to Jim throughout the years.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4-7 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron, where a funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Jonathan Zingales at 7:00 pm. Interment will take place Friday at Holy Cross Cemetery where the Firestone Park VFW Post 3383 will conduct military honors. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Luke Lutheran Community 615 Latham Lane Akron, OH 44319.
