Obituary of Michael Anthony Laterza
Akron - Michael Laterza, 58, loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather passed from this life unexpectedly at his home on Monday, August 2, 2010. He was born in New York, came to Akron on a Basketball scholarship and never left.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Linda; son Brad (Gina); grandchildren Nicholas and Alyssa; mother-in-law Freda Heffelfinger, brothers-in-law Jack and Larry; sisters-in-law June and Joy; brother Phil Laterza and Sister Lorraine Grippa; nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends. He was taken way too soon and joins his parents Mike and Dorothy Laterza and all the other loved ones who went before him.
Michael was retired from the City of Akron after 30 years of service. His charisma, smile, loving personality warm demeanor will be missed by all who knew him. His family was always first and he enjoyed biking in the park, all sports (except soccer and hockey which really aren't sports any way), playing cards, vacationing with Linda and hanging out with friends. He was especially proud of his son Brad and his wife Gina and their children Nicholas and Alyssa. He loved being with them.
May he rest in peace. There is a hole in our heart that can only be filled by you.
Funeral Services will be held Friday 7:00pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. (Please note new address) where the family will receive friends Friday 5 to 7pm. Cremation will follow. Memorials may be made to Summit Metroparks, 975 Treaty Line Rd., Akron, Ohio 44313.
