Obituary of Gary Allen Rhoades
Green-Gary Allen Rhoades, age 46, Died Monday, July 26th surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous two year battle with ALS.
Gary worked as a machinist all of his adult life, most recently at Joy Mining Machinery, Bedford Gear Division and previously for 14 years at Manchester Tool Corporation.
He is survived by his loving wife Beth (Dierker) Rhoades; mother Linda Higginbotham; father Richard Rhoades; sister Monica Miller; brother Martin Rhoades; mother-in-law Bernadette Dierker; sister and brother-in-law Lisa (Wayne) Smith; brother and sister-in-law Karl (Nancy) Dierker.
Nieces and nephews Lauren and Nicholas Miller, Alysia, Stephanie and Marshall Rhoades, Joseph, Robert and Nicholas Dierker, Noah and Adam Smith.
At Gary's request, there will be no calling hours. Friends and family who wish to celebrate Gary's life are invited to join us for The Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, July 31st at 11:00 AM at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 1800 Steese Rd., Green. Father David Durkee officiating. There will be a luncheon immediately following the Mass in the parish hall.
The family wishes to express their deepest thanks to the staff of Akron General Medical Center Visiting Nurse Service and the Hospice Care Center for the excellent care Gary received, and to our very special Hospice aide and friend, Karen Uminski for her extraordinary level of care and dedication.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either of the following organizations in Gary's name for continued research to find a cure for ALS, and to provide support and services to families affected by ALS:
