Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Jacobs

Born in Akron to the late George and Elizabeth Jacobs, Mary Beth Jacobs, 56, died at her home in Akron on Friday, June 18, after years of chronic illness. Mary Beth had attended St. John's primary school, St. Mary's High School, and Akron University. Following graduation, she spent a few years in Chicago establishing a pre-school before returning to Akron and working for Alltel. For the past 20 years, she devoted herself to the care of her mother Betty. Mary Beth was a lifetime member of St. John's Church where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society until its closing and is now a member of St. Paul's Church in Akron. She is survived by her brothers, Dr. George David Jacobs (Micki) of Perrysburg, Ohio and Dennis Jacobs (Linda) of Wadsworth, Ohio; niece, Emily Jacobs of Falls Church, Va.; niece, Kimberly Liska and great-nephew Logan Liska of Wadsworth, Ohio. She also leaves behind her aunt, Rosella Macko of Barberton, Ohio and many cousins in the Jacobs and Charney families. Especially close to her were cousins, George and Bernice Charney, Betty Ann Allen, Bernadine Doyle and nephew, Terry Allen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. AT THE CHURCH.
