Obituary of Esther Mae Newman

Esther M. Newman, 82, passed away Monday, June 7, 2010 at Akron City Hospital. Esther was born May 1, 1928 to Steve and Mary (Capela) Kozy in Akron and had been an Akron resident her entire life. She was employed at Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. as an executive secretary for over 20 years. She was a member of Wintergreen Ledges Church of God and enjoyed her time with the Red Hat Club. Esther was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Richard in 1989 and siblings, Steve Kozy, Grace Harkins, Evelyn Horvath, Betty McCauley and Linda Silvio. She is survived by her children, Richard Newman Akron, Dave (Jackie) Newman of Mogadore and Laura Galat of Akron; grandchildren, Joe (Yunyea), Michelle and Mike Mesher, Joy Newman, Chad Householder, Danielle Newman and Ashley Galat; great-grandchildren, Russell, Ricky and Hannah Newman and Hope Mesher; siblings, Jean (Ed) Fender, Jim (Shirley) Kozy, David (Delores) Kozy and Judy Anderson. Funeral services will be held Friday, 11 a.m. at Wintergreen Ledges Church of God, 1889 Vernon Odom Blvd., Akron, OH 44320-3892, Pastor Jim Roma officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday, 5 to 8 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. (Please note new address).
