Obituary of Michael Al Houck

PORT CLINTON -- Michael (Al) Houck passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on May 30, 2010 at the age of 83. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Irma (Peggy); and son, Michael; sisters, Marsha Harper and Arlene Fankhauser. He leaves behind a daughter, Deborah (Russell) Van Amburg; and a son, Donald (Carol) Houck; grandchildren, Nicholas Houck, Dawn (Jason) Miller; sister, Audrey Sendrey; and brother, John (Debbie) Houck, along with many other family members and friends. Al proudly served in the navy during World War II. From 1947 to 1987 he worked, managed, then owned Blake Body & Paint Shop in Akron, Ohio. He loved restoring classic cars including his '64 Corvette and his '65 Mustang, along with many others throughout his life. He was an avid fisherman and spent his summers with Peggy on Catawba Island and winters in Estero, Fla. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home MCGOWAN-REID & SANTOS CHAPEL (at 3rd st., one block north of Portage Trail in the Falls), where a funeral service will take place on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Northlawn Memorial Gardens where military honors will be performed by the American Legion Charles Faust Post #281.
