Obituary of Sadie Marie Domenico

Sadie (LoPiccolo) Domenico Sadie (LoPiccolo) Domenico, 88, went home to be with the Lord on June 21, 2010 at her residence in Cuyahoga Falls. Her courageous battle with cancer served as an inspiration to all. Born in Akron on September 29, 1921 to the late Matteo and Maria LoPiccolo, Sadie had been an area resident her entire life. She was a graduate of South High School and was a 'Rosie the Riveter' during WWII. She retired as a clerk for the Falls Pharmacy, where she worked for over 20 years. Sadie was a parishioner of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Cuyahoga Falls and was a member of Club 12, as well as the Sons of Italy. Sadie loved flowers and gardening. She was a wonderful cook, who was especially known for her Italian Wedding Soup. In addition to her parents, Sadie was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Joe; sisters Anna Tinaglia, Jennie Foti, Mary DeMita, and Angie Lobello; brothers Frank LoPiccolo, Joe Owens; nephew Danny Joe Mallardi. She is survived by her very special nieces who cared for her at the end of her life Fran Mallardi, DeeDee Dicresce, Donna Sapp, and Diane Dalton, as well as countless other nieces & nephews, great nieces & nephews, and great-great-nieces & nephews. A special thanks goes out to the staff of the VNS Hospice for the loving care that was given to Sadie. Special thanks also to Dottie and the other neighbors who helped her so much. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4-7 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home MCGOWAN-REID & SANTOS CHAPEL (at 3rd st., one block north of Portage Trail in the Falls). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Thom McCann on Saturday at 10:00 am at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church 1905 Portage Trail in Cuyahoga Falls. PROCESSION WILL FORM AT THE CHURCH. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron.
