Obituary of Walter B. Shepherd

Walter ``Shep' B. Shepherd, 86, went home to be with the Lord on May 21, at Akron City Hospital. Born in Cherry Tree, Pa. on February 3, 1924 to the late John and Rilla Shepherd, Walt had been a longtime area resident. He was a member of the Akron Baptist Temple. Walt retired from both General Tire, where he worked as a foreman, and from the Albrecht Co., where he worked as a bagger at Acme #1. Walter proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. In addition to his parents; Walt was preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret Schaffer and Alma Fishbach. He is survived by his loving wife, Amy; sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny and Lynn, Walter Jr. and Anne, and Daniel and Rosanne; daughter and son-in-law, Rachel and Daniel Monroe; sister, Martha McKee; grandchildren, Dennis, Amy, Amanda, Chad, Kirk, Jennifer, Sebastian, Isaac and four great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will full military honors will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
