Obituary of Donald Guy Smith

DONALD G. SMITH Donald G. Smith, 55, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at Akron General ER in Stow. He was born July 25, 1954 to Guy and Dorothy (Pigg) Smith in Akron and had been an Akron resident his entire life. He was Plant Manager of Spartan Enterprises where he had worked for 23 years and was formerly with General Tire for 13 years. He was a member of the Church of God. Don was a family man. He cherished his wife, children and especially his grandchildren to the exclusion of all else. He enjoyed computers, computing, hardware, software, anything and everything involving binary code. He was Vice President of the Akron Area Computer Users Group. Don is survived by his wife of 32 years, Sharon; his daughters and spouses Jennifer and Marshall Maxwell of Ft. Riley Kansas, Amanda and James Mowinski of Northfield; his son Paul Smith of the home. His grandchildren, Brannon and Donnell Maxwell and Tyler and Michael Mowinski, were a true joy to him and he relished every moment he spent with them. He leaves a cousin Laurie (Jerry) Price of Barberton. Funeral services will be held Saturday 11:00 Am at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. (Please note new address). Interment Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm at the funeral home.
