Obituary of Christine Slaughter
GREEN - Christine Slaughter, 58, passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Chris was born December 27, 1951 to Richard A. and Margaret (Dinuzzo) McIntyre and had been an area resident for most of her life.
She was a member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharisitic Minister. She was the co-chair, assistant coordinator and a faithful member of the Perpetual Adoration Society at the church and was a member of the Spiritual Life Commission, the Divine Mercy Cenacle and the Bereavement Committee. She volunteered at the St. Bernard Hunger Center and was grateful to have made two pilgrimages to Medjugorie, Yugoslavia.
Chris had battled breast cancer for years which led her to be active in Breast Cancer Awareness. She served as co-chair of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and was president of the Thursday Group.
Chris is survived by her son Michael and his fiancé Lauren Pompeo; her siblings Karenina (Tom) Manacchio, Barbara Leib, Mike (Cheryl) McIntyre, Richard McIntyre, Robert (Lauren) McIntyre, James McIntyre and John (Deborah) McIntyre; nieces and nephews Eric Davis, Kristi (Joe) Paparone, Mark (Colleen) Leib, Kevin McIntyre, Michelle (Brad) Sakowicz, Ricky, Savanah, Kelly, Christopher, and Madison McIntyre and Stanley. Great nieces and nephews Nicholas and Alexander Paparone, Sydney McIntyre, Xavier and Taylor Sakowicz and Kaitlyn and Tysen Leib and her former husband Don. She will be missed by her faithful companion Lucy.
A Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:30 am at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 1800 Steese Road, Uniontown, Ohio 44685. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 4 to 8 pm AT THE CHURCH and will be concluded with the recitation of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy at 8:00pm.
