Obituary of Virginia F. Graner
Virginia F. ("Ginny") Graner passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at the Visiting Nurse Service Hospice Care Center in Copley, with her family at her side.
She was born in Clarion, Pennsylvania to Hunter Earl and Christine Fleming and was a longtime member of St. John/St. Paul Lutheran Church of Akron. She also attended and was a supporter of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Ginny enjoyed playing bingo, playing cards and traveling to Mountaineer. She treasured time with her grandkids who always brought a smile to her face. She also enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and Notre Dame football teams with her husband, while enjoying a drink. Special thank you to the staff at the Hospice Care Center and to Dr. Michael DeRubeis her longtime physician.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Louise ("Weese") Wolfkiel and her husband Don, and Mary Lou ("Em") Heffernan and her husband Dale. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Ron; children, Tom (Remy) Graner of Colorado Springs, Colorado and their children, Shea and Shannon; Mary (Tony) Zita of Wadsworth and their children, Kevin and Erin; Jennifer (John) Vanke of Coventry and their children, Katie, Hanna and Andrea; Trish (Bob) Walker of Norton and their children, Shane, Dillon and Brady; Jan (Sonny) Paslowski of Franklin, Pennsylvania and their children, Jeff (Abby) and Kristin (Sam) Reppas who are expecting Ginny's first great Grandchild; and Mark (Drew) Lichtenberger of Simi Valley, California and their children, Andrew and Jimmy; She is also survived by brothers-in-law Larry Graner and Darrell Heffernan, along with many loving nieces and nephews and special friend Mel Hughes and family friend Wanda Dyser.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, 10 a.m. at St. John/St. Paul Lutheran Church, 282 W. Bowery St. in Akron. Pastor Lisa Arledge officiating. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, 5 to 8 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Visiting Nurse Service Hospice Care Center in Copley or to OASIS YOUTH at St. John/St. Paul Lutheran Church of Akron.
