Obituary of John Peterson
John Peterson, 90, passed away Sunday, April 18, 2010.
He was born in Akron and was a master mechanic retiring from the Mohawk Tire and Rubber Company. Mr. Peterson was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from November of 1942 to October of 1945 during World War II. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed telling stories, hunting, fishing, gardening, cooking and playing the harmonica.
He was preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Julia (Hajnal) Peterson; wife, Elaine; brothers, Steve, Frank and Joe (Kay); sisters, Katherine (Mike) Fontana and Verna (Andy) Savula. He is survived by son, Steve (Sandy) Peterson; daughter, Barbara (Frank) Papp; brother, William (Mary) Peterson; sister, Anna (Jim) Kane; grandchildren, Gregory and Paul (Kelly) Peterson, Stephenie (Keith) Moore, Steve (Michelle) and Jeff Papp, Frank (Erin) Papp, Jr., Lisa (Mike) Wohlwend and Tara (Jason) Weber; and great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Ethan, Reilly, Lindsay and Alyssa Peterson, Morgan, Madison and Garrett Moore, Teryn, Jacob, Casey, Rebecca, Jason, Brittany, Heather, Brandon, Spencer and Kaitlyn Papp, and Elaina, Caleb and Cameron Wohlwend.
Cremation has taken place. A Memorial service will be held Thursday, 11 a.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private for the family at Hillside Memorial Park.
