Obituary of Albert G. Struharik
Albert G. ("Big Al") Struharik, 81, passed away Friday, April 16, 2010.
He was born in Akron and was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church. He attended St. Paul Catholic Church. Mr. Struharik was the owner/operator of Supreme T.V. and was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II aboard the USS Essex and the Korean Conflict as a radar specialist. He was a member of Jednota Club 553 and AARP. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed fishing, golfing and telling his family and friends about his rounds at Firestone Country Club. He also enjoyed family events and loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John E. and Susie (Kedra) Struharik; grandsons, Jason Struharik and Kris Kruger; sister, Anne Midian; and brother, John Struharik. He is survived by his wife, Rose M. Struharik; daughter, Kathi (Sam) Galluch; sons, Al (Bobbie) and Mike (Kym) Struharik; sister-in-law, Dora Struharik; niece, Susie (Scott) Riegger and their sons, Michael and Henry; nephews, Carl Christie and Family and Dr. William (Kasey) Midian; grandchildren, Rob and David (Heather) Corey, Andrea (George) Singarella, Sam (Amy) Galluch, Nicole Marie Struharik and Nichole Bertram; and great-grandchildren, Jacob and Ethan Corey, Mario and Sam Singarella and Mallory and Max Galluch.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. Rev. Mr. Frank Lonteen officiating. Entombment at Rose Hill Burial Park where U.S. Naval Honors will also be held. The family will receive friends Tuesday, 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Donations may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church, Palliative Care & Hospice Services of Summa Health System, Crossroads Hospice or to the Veterans Administration.
