Obituary of Howard Lee Gillenwater
Howard Lee Gillenwater, Sr., Born Feb. 22, 1933 passed away peacefully Sun. March 21, 2010 after a short illness. Howard served in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired from the military as a sergeant after 22 years of service to his country.
He is preceded by death by second wife MaryAnn Carter. He is survived by sister Shirley Goats, first wife Patricia, his seven children, twins, Dinah and Donna, Howard Jr.(Bud), Jacquolyn, Troy, Guy and Michelle (Micki) and step-son Ed Carter. He was the proud grandfather of seven and great-grandfather of seven.
Howard was an avid golfer and bowler. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5-8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. A funeral service will take place Thursday, at 11:00 am at the funeral home, where the Firestone Park VFW Post 3383 will conduct military honors. Cremation will follow with the final committal of ashes taking place at the Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery in Rittman. In lieu of flowers, donations in Howard's memory may be made to the American Lung Association 6100 Rockside Wood, Suite 260
