Obituary of Donald Richard Gross
Donald R. 'Dick' Gross Sr., 83, passed away on February 24, at the Hospice Care Center in Copley.
Born on August 4,1926 to the late Ray and Anna Gross, Dick had been an Akron resident his entire life. He was a member of the Pipefitter's Local 219 for 55 years. Dick proudly served his country as a member of both the US Army and Navy. He was a member of both the VFW Post 3383 and the American Legion Kenmore Post 449.
In addition to his parents Dick was preceded in death by his daughter Nancey Lee and his sisters Allegra and Doretha. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Lois of Akron; sons Donald R. (Linda) Gross Jr. of Norton, Keith (Carla) Gross of New Franklin, Bob Gross of Akron, and Gregg (Diane) Gross of Barberton; daughter Stacey Gross of Norton; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday from 5-8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. Funeral services will take place Saturday at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Greenlawn memorial Park where the American Legion Post 449 will conduct military honors. Donations in Dick's memory may be made to the St. Paul/Moore Memorial Methodist Church 803 Wooster Rd. N Barberton, OH 44203.
