Obituary of Robert J. Bernat

Robert J. Bernat of the City of Green passed away on September 25, 2012. Born on August 10, 1949, he was a lifelong resident of Akron. He is survived by his son, Andrew, and his wife of 40 years, Linda (nee Pierce), all of the City of Green. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Bernat and Joseph Bernat, all of Akron. Growing up in Akron, Bob was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and graduated from Archbishop Hoban High School in 1967. Bob attended the University of Akron. Bob served with the Ohio Army National Guard for over 20 years, retiring from the National Guard in 1991. Bob was employed by the Defense Contract Management Agency for 37 years. A Catholic mass will be held at Queen of Heaven Church, 1800 Steese Road, Uniontown, OH 44685 on Saturday, October 6, 2012, at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Queen of Heaven Church and Barberton Community Foundation, Heart of Gold Humane Animal Fund, 460 W. Paige Avenue, Barberton, OH 44203.
