Obituary of Robert P. Jones
NORTON -- Robert P. Jones, of Norton, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 after a long battle with Dementia and Alzheimer's.
Robert was born September 4, 1928 to the late Porter Grover and Cordia Racheal Bedsaul Jones in Amelia, Virginia. He lived in the Akron/Norton area most of his life. He served time in the U.S. Air Force as an airplane engine mechanic in World War II. After the Armed Services he worked for the A&P Tea Co. with about 30 years of service until A&P closed in 1979. He retired from Buehler's Food Market in 1993 with 14 years of service. Robert was a member of the Brown Street Church of Christ for about 50 years.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his three brothers, Jimmy, Charles and Dexter and three sisters, Ruth, Eula Mae and Faye. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ida Louise Baker Jones and his children, Stephen Robert Jones and Donna Jean Jones, both of Norton.
Service will be held Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 1 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 S. Main Street, Akron, Ohio 44301. Visitation will be two hours prior to service; Mr. Stephen Hardin will be officiating. Interment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Robert's memory to Hospice of Summa, 444 North Main Street, P.O. Box 2090, Akron, Ohio 44398-6153 or to the Alzheimer's Association , P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
