Obituary of Ann Kormushoff

Baba, 84, passed away August 5, 2009 after a short battle with cancer. Ann graduated from Kenmore High School in 1944 and enjoyed attending their many yearly reunions including one held in 2008. She was a founder of St. Thomas Eastern Orthodox Church and attended St. Elia the Prophet Orthodox Church and St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church. Ann was a member and officer of the Council of Orthodox Churches of Akron since its beginning and very active in the Orthodox Christian Women's Organization. She was a volunteer at Children's Hospital and the Hattie Larlham Foundation. Baba was very proud of her Macedonian heritage and was the 2007 recipient of the Hall of Fame Award from the Macedonian Businessmen's Club. Ann also was an active and successful real estate agent having worked for over 40 years with a number of local realtors. She was also active with the Summit County Republican Party and worked as a booth worker for many elections. As busy as Ann was with her family, church, and career she always found time for her friends and an extended family that looked forward to holiday parties, Sunday evening dinner and a cup of coffee, or glass of wine just to talk. She will miss her card club, bus trips and lifelong close friends with whom she enjoyed many great and happy times. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Kathy Ann; parents, Nicholas and Marie Dimoff; brothers, Alex, Mickey, James and Chris; and sister, Sally Beckavac. She is survived by her loving husband and best friend, Michael (Meek) Kormushoff Sr., having whom just celebrated 63 years of marriage with; and brother, Peter. Mom also leaves sons, Michael Jr. (Patrice) and their children, Michael Wesley, Adam, Lauren & Sarah; Dan and his children, Danielle, Alise and Olivia; David (Christine) and their children, Kalie, Bethany and Nicholas; Steven and his children, Amanda, Steven and Alexander; and many nieces, nephews and friends who will deeply miss her. Calling hours will be Friday, August 7 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. with a Parastas service at 7:30 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Akron, Ohio 44301 (PLEASE NOTE NEW ADDRESS). Funeral service will be held Saturday morning at 10 a.m. at St. George Antiochian Church, 3204 Ridgewood Rd., Akron, Ohio 44333 where the body will lie in state one hour prior to service. Fr. Don Freude officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Peace Cemetery then returning to St. George Church Hall for a memorial luncheon.
