Obituary of Steve Peter Paul

Steve Peter Paul, 85, passed away peacefully August 22, 2012 due to complications of lymphoma. Born in Akron, Ohio, December 30, 1926, he lived his entire life in Green Township. He was an Army veteran who served in the Aleutian Islands. He worked at Firestone Tire and Rubber, Plant 2, as a Calendar Machine Operator for 34 years. Steve was a man you could count on. When his wife suffered a stroke, he visited her every day in the nursing home, tenderly assisting with her care. He could fix anything and was the first to offer help when something was broken. He enjoyed fishing and touring Amish country. He loved Euchre and played regularly at the Coventry, Green, Springfield, and Canal Fulton Community Centers. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Frances Helen Paul (nee Selnik); parents John J. and Clara Paul; brothers John, Joe, and George Paul, and an infant sister. He is survived by sister Ethel (Dale) Mathie; sons Steve (Cheryl) Paul; Thomas (Sandy) Paul; nephews Joseph (Judy) Paul, John (Carla) Paul, Dale Henry Mathie; and niece Dalene (Brian) Lease. He leaves grandchildren William (Lori) Paul and Jeffrey Paul; great grandchildren Chelsea and Nathan Paul; great nieces and nephews Shannon, Sean, Stephanie, Amy, Noel, Nick, Natalie, Chris, and Mark. He leaves behind his very dear friend, Gladys Hyatt, and devoted neighbors Bill and Melva Stone. He also leaves his life-long friends Dean Hartong and family, Kenny and Lorene Kozar, Ellen Torok, and many others in the Green and greater Akron area. His Euchre club friends showered him with cards and good wishes and he was grateful for their support. The family would like to thank the staff of Regina Health Center for their gentle, compassionate care in his final days. Regina's 5-star quality rating is well deserved. The family will receive friends on Monday, from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm, with a funeral service immediately following, at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Regina Health Center, 5232 Broadview Rd., Richfield, Ohio, 44286.
