Obituary of Carl V. Willis

Carl Willis, born October 8, 1921, passed away peacefully December 4, 2008 after a long illness. He was born in Akron, Ohio and served in and Army during World War II. He pursued many different business ventures including owning a restaurant but retired from Roadway Express in 1985 where he worked in the payroll department. He spent many years working for the Legion of Mary at St. Francis de Sales church and also served numerours years as a cantor. He was an avid Ohio State fan, never missing a game and always offered his personal critique to the coaching staff (especially Tressel) after the game. He was a loving father, and we thank God for the blessing of his life. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Rita; and is survived by his daughter, Patricia Lynn (Bill) Rathbun of Green; granddaughters Nicole Renee (Brian) Kayla of San Francisco, and Kelsey Rebecca Rathbun; daughter Mary Beth (John) Breda of Hartville; grandson Jason (Chelsea) Breda; great-grandson Calvin; granddaughters Jennifer (Jesse) Robinson and Valerie Breda; and many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. A memorial Mass will be held Saturday 11:00 a.m. at the Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Catholic Church, 2425 Myersville Rd., where the family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
