Obituary of Roy L. Minns

Roy "Bud" Minns See I told you I was sick, said Bud…his sense of humor shining through even toward the end of his illness. Roy "Bud" Minns, 68, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at the Hospice Care Center at the end of a courageous battle with cancer. Preceded in death by his parents Roy and Hester, infant sons Anthony and David, his loving wife of 44 years, Carol, and sisters Eleanor and Ditty. Bud is survived by sister, Joyce (Bill), two wonderful children Mark Minns and Lauri Walker, beautiful granddaughters, Kristin and Kylie, special friend, Rosemary Urbano, and many other family and friends. Bud retired from Goodyear Tire with many years service. After the passing of his wife Carol, he joined a New Beginnings group where he met his sweetheart Rosemary and shared many happy times with over the past couple of years. His greatest joys in life were gardening, Indy car racing, golf, bowling and rooting for Akron U and Ohio State Football. He loved spending time with his grandkids, always cheering them on at their games and activities. He was a great friend to so many and enjoyed having friends and family over for cookouts and going all out to decorate his yard for the holidays. He had a happy go lucky outlook on life and would want us to celebrate the happy times together rather than mourn his death. Special thanks to our friends at Hospice and Cuyahoga Falls General Chem Dept. for their wonderful care. Funeral services will be held Saturday 10 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday 6-8 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church, 1580 Brown St., Akron, OH 44301 or Hospice Care Center, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron, OH 44333 (Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 330-724-1281, www.kakfh.com)
