Obituary of John Patrick Kovalchin

John P. Kovalchin, Sr., 75, died Monday, January 23, 2012. He was born in Barberton and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Catholic Order of Foresters and Knights of St. John. Mr. Kovalchin was a Research Chemist Technology Associate at Gen Corp where he was also named on several Patents. He retired in 1996 after 40 years of service. He was preceded in death by daughters, Ann Marie and Beth Ann Kovalchin; and is survived by wife, Pauline Ann (Verbich) Kovalchin; daughter, Mary Ann Kovalchin; sons, Dr. John P., Jr. (Sally), Michael (Kelly) and Dr. Joseph (Kerrin) Kovalchin; and grandchildren, Claire, Katherine, Elizabeth, Emily, John P., III., Nicole, Rachael, Maria, Sarah, Rebecca and soon to be born, Joseph Thomas. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. (PROCESSION TO FORM AT THE CHURCH). Fr. Michael B. Smith celebrant and Fr. Thomas McGovern con-celebrant. Interment at St. Nicholas Cemetery in Clinton, Ohio. The family will receive friends Friday, 4 to 8 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron.
