Obituary of Patricia Ann Szempruch

Patti Szempruch (nee Vargo) passed away on August 13, 2012, as a result of metastasis of ocular melanoma. She was born in Barberton, Ohio, on November 15, 1948. Patti graduated from Norton High School and attended the University of Akron. Patti worked for AFC Interiors for 24 years as chief estimator, and worked at Intec Building Systems for 19 years, where she served as Vice President and partner until her retirement in 2010. Preceded in death by her grandparents, son Paul Porter, sister Terry Hall, and brother-in-law Mike Szempruch. Patti is survived by her parents Frank and Jean Vargo; beloved husband Augie Szempruch; son John (Dawn) Porter; daughters Alicia (Colleen) Szempruch and Julie (Josh) Wehr; grandchildren Jordan, Joey, Hailey, Luke, and Alex; sister Janet (Larry) Holderbaum; brother Frank Vargo; brothers-in-law Bill Hall, Steve (Suanne) Szempruch; Paul Szempruch; sisters-in-law Margaret (Damien) Szempruch-Billy, Joan (Dennis) Buchert, Julie Szempruch; and many aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. A true Scorpio, Patti loved being the 'boss' of her beloved friends with S.N.O.T., her golf league, her class reunion committees, bowling league, card club, and most of all, her cherished family. Patti was a true competitor who loved playing virtually any game or sport, including Soduko, word puzzles, golf, and bowling. She was also an avid traveler, seamstress, and reader, as well as a devout member of St. Francis de Sales Parish. More than life itself, she loved her wonderful husband Augie, and expressed many times in the past few months her major regret that she wouldn't have enough time with him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Private interment will take place.
