Obituary of Verne Fertig
Verne (Ken) Fertig of Wadsworth passed away May 28, 2008 at the home of his daughter after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was born in Akron, Ohio on June 25, 1921. After graduating from Garfield High School in 1939, he went to work at B.F. Goodrich Chemical and retired in 1981 after 40 years of service. Ken lived most of his life in the Firestone Park area, and spent his last 20 years in Wadsworth. Even after his illness he still continued to live life to it's fullest. Dad will be united with our mother, Ruth, to whom he spent 50 memorable years of marriage. He was preceded in death by infant son Kevin and brother James. He is loved and remembered by his children Kelly (Kathie) of Memphis, Karen (John), Kay (Paul), Keith (Karen), and Karilyn (Ben) of Indianapolis. Grandchildren Kevin, Kyle, Derek, Mae, LiAnna, Lindsay, Stephanie, Steven and Anne, and one great grandson Dalton. The family will receive friends Friday 4-8 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel. Funeral services will be held Saturday 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
