Obituary of Daniel Lawrence Kovein
Daniel L. Kovein, 61, of Green passed away surrounded by his family and friends May 17, 2008 after a long hard battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents Daniel & Virginia Kovein and sister Martha Eberhart. He will be forever missed by his wife of 41 years Gerrie (who he lovingly called Babe) and his three daughters and son-in-laws Karen (Dan) Clark, Amy (Shane) Wamsley, and Holly (Greg) Sausman. He also leaves to mourn his beloved grandchildren Evan & Kayla Clark, Joshua Sausman, Jenna Graves, Tony Paris, and Dakota Wamsley. Sister Janice (Steve) Damsa and special sister-in-law Donna Durgala. Linda, Jim, Flynn and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He retired from the Akron Police Department after 27 years of service and worked for the Summit County Prosecutor's Office as a Chief Investigator before his death. Dan's dedication and tireless pursuit for justice was his drive to continue with the job he genuinely loved and was born to do. We could fill up an entire page of his accomplishments in his career, but those who knew this wonderful man already know these accomplishments. He would want to be remembered for his faith, loyalty, morals, and his love for family. His wife, daughters, and friends truly believed he was the strongest man alive and after watching his fight with his illness- we KNOW this is true! Our family would like to thank all his colleagues at the Summit County Prosecutor's Office, Hospice of Summa, the Palliative Care unit of Akron City Hospital; Our "Angels in disguise" Rob Buza and cousin Ron Rett; Also Sonny L., Joe C., Larry L., Tom M., Steve B., and Frank M. for being there when we needed you guys! The family will receive friends Tuesday 4-8 p.m. at the Anthony & Biscan Funeral Home, 4178 Massillon Rd. (corner of Steese and Massillon Rds. in Green) Funeral services will be held Wednesday 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church.
