Obituary of Marjorie Ann Schlaeppi

CUYAHOGA FALLS - Marjorie Ann Schlaeppi, 73, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2008. She was born in Cuyahoga Falls and was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, St. John's Church Choir for 48 years, the Civitan Club and was Secretary for the Akron Press Club. She retired from the Cuyahoga Falls City School System in Public Relations and was the Immediate Past Executive Director of the Cuyahoga Falls Alumni Foundation. She was a fierce advocate for the City of Cuyahoga Falls and School System. She was a former School Board and PTA member. She was a 1952 graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School, a 1956 graduate of Kent State University earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism and a 1985 graduate of the University of Akron earning her Master's degree in Education Administration. She also served in the church's soup kitchen and was involved in numerous other activities. She was preceded in death by parents, Ernest and Belle (Fuller) Dick; husband, Henry F., Jr. in 2005; son, Joseph H. in 1964; and brother, James E. Dick in 2007. She is survived by son, John E.; daughter, Dawn R. (Bruce) Runyon; brother, David A. Dick; sister, Dorothy E. Clark; sister-in-law, Peggy Dick; grandchildren, Alex and Andrew Runyon; many nieces and nephews; and lots of friends. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial service will be held Wednesday, 6 p.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church, 2220 2nd St. in Cuyahoga Falls. Rev. Deborah Rankin officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday, 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home McGowan-Reid & Santos Chapel, 247 Stow Ave. (at 3rd St., one block north of Portage Trail) in Cuyahoga Falls.
