Obituary of James Johnson
James William Johnson, 57, passed away unexpectedly at Mercy Medical Center in Canton on May 11, 2008.
Born in Akron in 1951, James had been a lifetime resident of Firestone Park. He was a 1970 graduate of Garfield High School. James was currently employed by the Giant Eagle Co. He enjoyed hunting and bowling and was an avid basketball and softball player. Jim was active as a Little League and softball coach in both Firestone Park and Springfield. He was also heavily involved with North Akron Wrestling.
James was preceded in death by his parents James and Betty Johnson. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Linda (nee Schneeberger) of Akron; daughter and son-in-law Becky (nee Johnson) & Bill McPerry; son Jimmy Johnson Jr. of Akron; brother Bobby Johnson of Akron; father-in-law and mother-in-law Walter & Dolores Schneeberger of Green; grandchildren William James, Michele Lee, and Megan Diane McPerry; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends Thursday from 2-4 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S.
