Obituary of Thomas Nicholas Lore
Thomas Nicholas Lore, 49, passed away peacefully on April 8, at home surrounded by his family, after fighting a courageous nine month battle with pancreatic cancer.
Tom was born in Akron on November 17, 1958. He was a graduate of East High School and received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Akron, as well as a Master's of Business Administration from Kent State University. He was also a certified nursing home administrator. Tom was employed as a medical technologist at Summa Health System, completing 30 years of service. He also worked at the Cardiac Lab at Akron General Medical Center. He was a teacher with the Medical Technology Consortium for student Medical Technologists completing their final year of internship.
Tom loved life, especially his family and friends. Tom loved gardening and music as well, but his passion in life was always helping others. Tom was recognized for his selfless action and courage under adverse conditions in convincing two men on two separate occasions not to jump off the Y-Bridge.
Tom was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and was the recipient of the first prayer shawl made by the Prayer Shawl Committee at St. Matthew Church.
Tom was preceded in death by his grandparents Louis I. and Rose (Nasca) Lore and Nick and Anna (Fabrizio) Crano; godparents, and also uncle and aunt, John and Dorothy Crano. Left to cherish his memory are his parents Louis M. and Eleanor (Crano) Lore; brother Louis M. Jr. and sisters Rosanne and Mary; Uncle Nick Lore and aunt and uncle Geraldine and Walter Cahill, as well as many friends whose expressions of love and encouragement were cherished by Tom.
The family would like to thank Tom's friends, coworkers, and extended family members who supported Tom in so many ways during his nine month illness; Dr. Drew Abramovich and Dr. George Laikos for their compassionate care of Tom, as well as the nursing staff on Floor 7-E of Akron City Hospital; the members of the Oncology team of Summa Home Care, especially Lisa, Sharon, Karen, and Trish; also Summa Hospice Care members Angie and Nathaniel.
Tom, we love you so much and we will never forget you.
The family will receive friends Friday from 4-8 pm at the Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Funeral Home, 1990 S. Main St. Funeral services will be held Saturday and will begin at the funeral home at 9:15 am and continue with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Matthew Catholic Church. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery.
