Pete Nassos
Pete Nassos, 79, has rejoined his Lord and parents, Peter and Julia.
He leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Phyllis, 5 children, & 10 grandchildren: Peter (Georgia) Nassos of Atlanta, GA; Julie (George) Mayfield of Columbus, OH; Joanne Nassos of Akron; Paula (Donald) Hutton of Wayne, MI; John (Sheri) Nassos of Sharon Township; his grandchildren, Theresa, Steven, Alexander, Andrea, Jordan, Eftyhia, Sara, Olivia, Amiee and Christina; his aunt Mabel Salim of Akron.
A life-long resident of Akron, Pete graduated from East High School and the University of Akron. He served in the US Army during the Korean conflict.
He was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Theta Chi fraternity and the Order of AHEPA. Pete retired from a lifetime career with Goodyear Tire in their corporate office. He enjoyed volunteering at the Greek Church Thursday Gyro Luncheon.
Pete and his family thank his friends, fellow parishioners, Philoptochos Care Givers, Dr. Nick Nackes, the staff of Summa ICU and Palliative Care Unit for their support during Pete's lengthy illness.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 pm on Thursday at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. (PLEASE NOTE NEW ADDRESS) with the Trisagion Service at 7pm. Funeral services will be held Friday May 9, 2008 at 11:00am at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 129 Union St, Akron, Ohio 44304, where Pete will lie in state one hour prior. Rev. Fr. Jerry Hall and Lou Mashie officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to "The Fr. George N. Bartz Camp Scholarship Fund" (c/o of the Greek Church) or the American Diabetes Association, 1815 W Market St
