Obituary of Deborah Lynne Shimko
Deborah Lynne (Manning) Shimko, 48, passed away suddenly Sunday, April 20, 2008.
She was born April 14, 1960, first born of Patricia Ann (deceased) and James A. Manning in Portsmouth, VA.
Educated in Ohio, graduating from Firestone High School, attending Baldwin Wallace College and Akron University, Debbie earned her degree in Education. While attending college, she was an active member of the Chi Omega Sorority. During college, she worked for the electronics department at the university. After graduation, she was promoted to Manager of the University's new natatorium. Her current position was at Goodrich Junior High School where she proudly served her profession with great pride and dedication to her students.
She was current President and President-elect for 2008 - 2009 of Garfield High School's PTA. Her death occurred at an early morning meeting with that group.
In addition to her father, Deborah is survived by her beloved husband Jon J. Shimko; children David, Sarah and William; Sister Cynthia A. Howell and husband Rick of Atlanta; brother Jeffery J. Manning and wife Katherine of Wadsworth, sister and brothers-in-law Marsha and Jerry Ambrose, Debbie and Gene Cunard, Judy Shimko, and Pat and Donna Shimko, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Debbie was a loving and kind person. She was a devoted wife, mother, teacher and an inspiration to all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 26, 2008, at 11:00 am, at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 South Main Street. (PLEASE NOTE NEW ADDRESS). Interment Rose Hill Burial Park. The family will receive friends Friday 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Garfield High School PTA Scholarship fund in her memory c/o Garfield High School, 435 North Firestone Blvd., Akron, Ohio 44301.
