Obituary of Ronald D. Baughman
Ronald D. Baughman, formerly of Akron, Ohio, passed peacefully from this life on April 12, 2008 at Hospice Kavanagh House in Des Moines, IA surrounded by his family.
Born in Akron on May 10, 1927, Ron moved with his wife to Des Moines in 1981 after being transferred by Firestone. He later retired from Firestone in 1985 after 42 long years. In his free time, Ron enjoyed working in the yard, visiting with neighbors, monthly bus trips to Meskwaki Casino with his wife, and vacationing with his family. He especially enjoyed a comfortable Sunday, which always included early Mass at the church down the street, a little shopping, followed by breakfast out with his loving wife. It was the simple things such as a routine Sunday or quiet nights at home that pleased him most. He was a man of few words until the mood struck him he would open up, sharing old stories and delighting anyone around in cheerful conversations. It was times like these when you could see the true beauty of his soul. Ron was a loving husband, father and grandfather who was always caring, patient, and kind-hearted. He had a good sense of humor and without even trying or knowing that he was doing it, his jokes and laughter could brighten anyone's mood, even down to his last days. It is his happy demeanor and bright, laughing smile that will help those who love him to remember him always.
Ron is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Anna (Csonka). They were married on August 7, 1954. In addition to his wife, Ron is survived by his four daughters, Carol of Akron, Patti Asbury of Akron, Lisa (John) Merriam of Des Moines, IA. and Suzanne (Robert) Di Menna of Huntington, CT. and his son, Ron (Michelle) of Charlotte,NC.; as well as eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
