Obituary of Robert Blachaniec
Robert Blachaniec, 77, passed away into his eternal rest on April 1, 2008
at the Hospice Care Center.
He was a lifetime resident of Akron and a 1948 graduate of Hower Vocational
School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving on the USS John W.
Thomason as a fireman's apprentice. He was employed as a plumber/pipefitter
through Local 219 until his retirement. He was an accordian player with his
own "polka" band for many years. His memberships included St. Hedwig Church,
Polish Legion of American Veterans Post 32 and Firestone VFW Post 3383.
He was preceded in death by son, Thomas J. Collins; and is survived by
daughters, Victoria Paster of Akron and Susan Greenawald of Orange, Texas;
son, Robert A. (Lisa) Blachaniec of Copley Township; grandchildren, Leah and
Kiley Blachaniec and Virginia, Thomas and Chad Anthony of Orange, Texas; and
many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Ron and Pam Huber, Dr. Machado, Lorantffy
Care Center and the nurses, staff and volunteers at the Hospice Care Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, 9:30 a.m. at St. Hedwig
Catholic Church, 215 E. Glenwood Ave., Akron. Fr. Thaddeus Swirski
celebrant. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, 6 to
8:30 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S.
