Obituary of John C. Joyner

AKRON -- John (Jack) C. Joyner, 83, formerly of Richfield, left this world Wednesday, July 25, 2012. Jack was born October 7, 1928 to Guy Joyner and Katherine (Nash) Irvin. He was a graduate of Garfield High School and attended The University of Akron. He served as a Sergeant in the Marine Corps and had been employed for 35 years as an R&D Research Technologist at Uniroyal/Goodrich spending many days at the Automotive Proving Grounds in Pecos, Texas and retired in 1990. A lifetime member of Sons of Herman and a member of the Army Navy 250, Jack enjoyed bowling and golfing with his friends. Jack will be deeply missed by his wife of 37 years, Lesia (Stanko); children, Elizabeth (Aaron) Wilkinson and Christine Joyner; precious grandchildren, Lauren, Noah (Mr. Slick) and Sydney Wilkinson and Melissa Joyner. He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy Joyner and Katherine Irvin; son, John Alan Joyner; and brothers, Donald and Thomas. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, 1 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St., where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
