Obituary of John C. Joyner
AKRON -- John (Jack) C. Joyner, 83, formerly of Richfield, left this world Wednesday, July 25, 2012.
Jack was born October 7, 1928 to Guy Joyner and Katherine (Nash) Irvin. He was a graduate of Garfield High School and attended The University of Akron. He served as a Sergeant in the Marine Corps and had been employed for 35 years as an R&D Research Technologist at Uniroyal/Goodrich spending many days at the Automotive Proving Grounds in Pecos, Texas and retired in 1990. A lifetime member of Sons of Herman and a member of the Army Navy 250, Jack enjoyed bowling and golfing with his friends.
Jack will be deeply missed by his wife of 37 years, Lesia (Stanko); children, Elizabeth (Aaron) Wilkinson and Christine Joyner; precious grandchildren, Lauren, Noah (Mr. Slick) and Sydney Wilkinson and Melissa Joyner. He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy Joyner and Katherine Irvin; son, John Alan Joyner; and brothers, Donald and Thomas.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, 1 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St., where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Greater Akron, 7996 Darrow Road, Twinsburg, OH 44087.
