Obituary of Bernice R. Ferko

Bernice R. Ferko passed away January 29, 2008. Mother was the eleventh of thirteen children born to the late Ignatius and Anna Pistorio. Mother worked in her parent's produce store as a child and at the air docks for the war effort, Sandy Beach, and various restaurants in the Akron, Portage Lakes, and Barberton areas. She was a member of the St. Mary/Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Barberton, St. Theresa Altar Society, Barberton Senior Center Woodworking Department, CYO Adult Day Care, and also volunteered at the Seventh Day Adventist Food Pantry. Mother was preceded in passing by her husband of 49 years, John and experienced the greatest heartache with the loss of her beloved daughter, Jacqueline Sue. Left to mourn her passing are her daughter Gloria Ann and Son John David, four granddaughters, seven great-grandchildren, and sister Terri Germita of San Antonio, TX; best friends Bernie Burza and Josephine Dombrosky.
