Obituary of Mary Saviolis
Mary Saviolis, 73, of Tallmadge, passed away Friday, December 28, 2007 at her residence after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, George and Catherine Janas; and brother, John Janas. She is survived by her devoted husband of 48 years, Steve; son, John; daughter, Rene (Peter) Stamatis; adored grandson, Nicholas; sister-in-law, Christine Janas; nephew, George (Kelly) Janas; and niece, Katina (Brian) Tullis.
Mary was actively involved through the years in many clubs and organizations. She was one of the founding members of AMHAS (Asia Minor Hellenic American Society), and was also a longtime member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Akron, and the Pan Cretan Association of Akron. She was a great wife, loving mother, proud grandmother and dedicated friend to many. She will be greatly missed.
Funeral service will be held Monday, 11 a.m. at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church where Mary will lie in state one hour prior to service. Rev. Fr. Jerry Hall officiating. Interment at Mt. Peace Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, 5 to 8 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home, Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. MAIN ST. in Akron - (PLEASE NOTE NEW ADDRESS) - where a Trisagios service will be held at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the following organizations:
AMHAS Scholarship Fund, Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church Scholarship Fund or Pan Cretan Association of Akron Scholarship Fund.
The family would like to extend their special thanks to Hospice and all of the physicians and nurses at Summa who took such special care of her.
