Obituary of John Joseph Zimmerman

John "Zim Zam" Zimmerman died Saturday, December 15, 2007. John was born October 30, 1921 and lived in Akron, Ohio his entire life. He was employed at Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, Bories Bowland and retired from the McNeil Corporation. He was very active in the Order of Sons of Herman Lodge #10, Fraternal Order of Eagles and Fraternal Order of Police Boosters. John volunteered for many years at the American Red Cross and was their outstanding volunteer in the transportation service in 1996 and 2003. He was also a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. John was preceded in death by parents, Anthony and Elizabeth Zimmerman; infant brother, Joseph; brother-in-law, Joseph Galko; and nephew, John Heaton. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Kenneth Woodruff of Medina; granddaughters, Nicole (Mike) Terrell of Phoenix, Arizona, Melissa Pfeister of New Albany, Ohio and Tracey (Rick) Krepps of Maineville, Ohio; great-grandsons, Caelum and Cambren Terrell and Carson Krepps; sisters, Rose Galko of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Elizabeth Heaton of Miami, Texas; uncle, Joseph (Mary) Bebesi of Marshallville; former wife, Helen Zimmerman and family; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends at the Sons of Herman and the American Red Cross. Funeral services will be held Friday, 12 p.m. at the Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Funeral Home, 1990 S. MAIN ST. (PLEASE NOTE NEW ADDRESS). Fr. Robert Clancy officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday, 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Donations may be made to the Sons of Herman Lodge #10, 694 E.
