Obituary of Helen Wetzel

Helen Wetzel, 87, died Sunday December 9, 2007 at Merriman Place. She was born in Akron and had been an Akron resident her entire life. After raising her family, she returned to school for a degree in Practical Nursing and retired from Akron Children's Hospital in 1985 following 25 years of service. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church and the Kenmore Senior Center. Mrs. Wetzel was receded in death by her first husband Gilbert Wetzel, daughter Maureen and grandson Nicholas; and parents Harator and Tekla (Zawinski) Lesniak; and is survived by her current husband Sam Gallucci; daughter Jo Anne Strickland of Akron; grandchildren Kim Sanders, Dana Nuosce, Amber Strickland, Toni Nuosce, Anthony (Jenae) Nuosce and Krista (Brian); great grandchildren Kristen Skyla, Ethan and Van. Funeral services will be held Wednesday 2:00pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel (1990 S. Main St. PLEASE NOTE NEW ADDRESS). Rev. Robert Tauscher officiating. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday one hour prior to services.
